Fidel
will be remembered as one of the greatest men of this century; even by
those who think that it is for bad, or those who think that is for
good, if it is for good, or if it is for bad or for the two reasons at
the same time, Fidel will not be forgotten for a long time..."
Gabriel García Márquez |

A documentary film by Estela Bravo
|
This 91 minutes biographical documentary film takes a rousing,
invigorating, emotional look at one of the most complex and endearing
figures of the 20th Century global politics, Cuban leader Fidel Castro.
Through a mix of archival footage and talking heads (which include
writers, celebrities, and personal friends such as author Gabriel Garcia
Marquez), Fidel Castro, el Comandante-well known to Latin American masses,
emerges as a warm human being as well as a true revolutionary.
Oliver Stone spent three days in Cuba with President Fidel Castro talking
about youth, power, everything from Fidel's failings as a father to
drinking nights with Krushchev. The result is a film HBO won't show,
perhaps because it puts a human face on the U.S.'s eternal enemy. But the
film is nothing more than a real picture of Fidel Castro, the history we
are not supposed to get in the North American media.

'THE
AMERICANS HAVE A VIEW OF CASTRO THAT IS UNFORTUNATELY RIGID.
.. I THINK THEY'RE WORRIED THEY MIGHT LIKE HIM.'

Looking
for Fidel (53mins) by Oliver Stone:
"Fidel Castro is a sage, a survivor and a Quixote". Oliver Stone
insisted on leaving patent his admiration toward the Cuban president
Fidel Castro, to whom he qualified as one of the "wisest men, he is a
survivor and a Quixote". Stone that has rotated two documentaries on
Fidel Castro's figure, who somehow revealed the origin of the
financing for their services of opposition to the Cuban Revolution in
frank form. It is worthwhile not only to enjoy these film works but
also to obtaining a copy to reinforce our personal libraries.
These documentaries are available in the library of Amigos De Cuba in
formats of VHS. For more information: amigosdecuba@hotmail.com,

The Revolution will not be televised
It is an award winning compelling documentary on Venezuela’s coup;
reminding all of us how frail democratic rights and liberties are
under the shadow of the U.S. Empire and the various privileged
oligarchies profiting from its rule

MISSION AGAINST TERROR:
(2004,
48 minutes) co-produced by Radio Havana Cuba reporter Bernie Dwyer,
and Cuban TV producer, Roberto Ruiz Rebo.
MISSION AGAINST TERROR is a critically acclaimed film that
debuted at Havana's 26th Festival of the New Latin American Cinema
in December, 2005. The film raises the question: why are people who
fight terrorism imprisoned in the U.S. while known terrorists are
allowed to walk the streets of Miami freely?
The film follows the case of the five Cubans
currently serving long sentences in U.S. jails for trying to prevent
terrorist attacks on Cuba. It also depicts the long history of
violence against innocent Cubans by right-wing groups based in Miami
that are supported by the U.S. government. |
